Only a few video games have been created to raise awareness about the autism spectrum

The Scent of Silence follows the adventures of a young hero who is on the autism spectrum as he attempts to find his lost brother. Set in a world of medieval fantasy and mystery, you will solve puzzles and journey to various lands where unique dangers await.

 People on the autism spectrum can experience significant sensory processing challenges. A condition known as Synesthesia has been found to be much more prevalent in people with autism compared to the general population. Synesthesia literally means a "union of the senses" whereby two or more of the five senses that are normally experienced separately are involuntarily joined together in experience. For instance, one can taste sounds or see smells; and it is this unique phenomena that inspired the name of our game - "Scent of Silence."

Our aim is to raise awareness by gamifying the various sensory and language differences associated with autism. We are very hopeful that this will create an exceptional gaming experience and present a challenge for players while they help our young hero navigate the world and find his brother

We are heavily focused on incorporating sensory experiences seen in the autism spectrum into gameplay in intriguing and fun ways. This is reflected in the way players need to solve puzzles, explore the world, and defeat enemies. We are also invested in gamifying some of the social and language differences that can be seen in autism through character interactions and plot development. 

To ease the burden of development costs for our backers, we are using pre-made art from Synty Studios. Through the use of pre-made assets we can focus more on dedicating resources towards gamification of mental health experiences. 

We are currently in the development phase of our game. We hope to launch on PC. Below are some images of what it is starting to look like.
